Hurt & lost, dog finds solace
LUDHIANA: For the Khosla, Rana and Singh families of Karnail Singh Nagar caring for a dog is no style statement. They do it out of concern and are far from pretentious about it.
The three families have been caring for an abandoned and injured German Shepherd that had suddenly shown up at Seema Khosla’s doorstep. After trying to care for it themselves, they finally managed to get a veterinary doctor on Saturday.
Seema, a homemaker, said when she found the dog, it had been bitten by street dogs.

‘‘It seems someone abandoned their pet. We already have a dog of the same breed so couldn’t keep another otherwise we would have adopted it. Though we couldn’t take it into our home, we want to make sure it will be fine,’’ she said in a matter-of-fact way.
Advocate Harjasdeep Rana said they had been caring for the dog by feeding it every morning and evening. "But it needed medical attention for the wounds. We contacted various organizations to provide medication and shelter for the dog but no one has bothered to help yet," he said.
Simran Kaur, a homemaker in the same area, said the dog was quite aggressive. "It was good we managed to bring a veterinarian. We will arrange a shelter for it once he recovers from injuries," said Simran.-- shivani.mehra@timesgroup.com
